NB accident claims five

Five people died while five others sustained serious injuries after a lorry they were travelling in overturned in Nkhata Bay on Sunday. Mzuzu Police spokesperson Maurice Chapola on Monday identified the deceased as Tryness Chiumia, Thoko Ngwira, Chimwemwe Banda and Alice Msiska. The fifth victim was yet to be identified. “They were travelling from Usisya to Mzuzu and when they reached Biya in Nkhata Bay, the driver of vehicle registration NB 4006 reportedly failed to negotiate a sharp bend. The vehicle swerved off the road and overturned, killing four people on the spot while the fifth died at Mzuzu Central Hospital,” said Chapola.
